Serene Skies

Hello and welcome back, I hope you've had a great week!

In today's post, I'll be sharing with you some of the snaps I've taken of nature's most intriguing possession - the sky. I don't know about you, but looking at a beautiful, scenic sky instantly relaxes me and I always find myself saying, "ooh, look at the sky," or "the sky looks so pretty"! I realised the amount of sky pictures I had, so I thought why not share them with you? I hope you enjoy!

Now, this is something you don't see everyday! A few months ago, you may have heard about the rare phenomenon which could be viewed at different locations in England. This is a rainbow cloud, or iridescent cloud as its formally known, which is created when small water droplets individually scatter light, turning the sky into a heaven of colour.

This is also one of my favourites... I can see different layers of clouds too, with the darker blue ones appearing closer and making it look 3D. It almost reminds me of a scene from a magical, fairy tale which makes you want to reach out to touch it.

Here is a classic sunset, with the warm, vibrant colours. Although, I love how the clouds seem as if they're being pulled towards something, creating a halo in the sky. This photo makes me think of winter, being tucked up on the sofa with the fire on and a mug of hot chocolate tucked between my hands.

I took this as we drove (disclaimer: I wasn't driving!) past a cemetery with this grand little church and stone wall. Personally, I love the colours in this and how well they harmonise together.

Whispering Woods

Hello and welcome back to Faithful Photography, I hope you've had a lovely week!

On Saturday, I went on a lovely walk with my family in a beautiful seaside town called Saltburn, on the east coast of England. We parked at the top of the bank and began our adventure through the woods to reach the park and beach at the bottom. Walking through the woods was truly magical, with the path lined with blossom petals which fluttered down from the trees, like butterflies or snow. I took some photos of this blossom which I thought you may like to see, hence why I'm writing this post! Hopefully, you'll enjoy...

Capturing the beauty of this path, I particularly love this picture. In my opinion, it sums up Spring and the start of new beginnings.  

Although, don't be fooled by the innocence and purity which is portrayed in this picture... The blossom was very slippy! I almost ended up falling over and being towed along by Jasper here! Despite the fact I had petals plastered to my body, it was still an awful lot of fun!

My favourite thing about this photo is actually the leaves on the left because of how the sunlight is seeping through them. Because of how high all of the branches were, I couldn't reach high enough for this photo to look prettier and to focus on the flowers... The disadvantages of being short hey?!

This one is slightly better since I made my dad hold one of the branches down for me so I could get closer! Looking carefully, you can see an insect resting on these pink pillows, drinking the nectar which they hold.

Beautiful Blossom

Hello, welcome back to Faithful Photography!

As you should've read from my previous post, I went to a place called Preston Park yesterday with my family. While I was there, I also took some photos of blossom as well as the butterflies. At the park you can see the River Tees and follow it along a path lined with trees and flowers. There was plenty of blossom trees surrounding this path, meaning I stopped at each one to take a few snaps then had to run to catch up with everyone! In today's post, I'm going to share with you some of these...

Out of the hundreds (slight exaggeration) I took, this is up there with the top spot as my favourite. This is because I love how the flowers stand out from the darker background, but you can also little patches of white towards the back too. Like I mentioned in one of my first posts, blossom is my favourite flower, which makes me love this just that little bit more!

 I like this one too because of how the foreground also stands out really well, and shows the delicacy of these pretty flowers.

Looking at this one makes me think about Easter but I'm not sure why... Maybe because the flowers are arranged to look like an egg, or maybe just because I associate Spring with blossom. Who knows?!

I like this one because it focuses on the inside of the blossom, almost revealing their vulnerability and inner beauty.

Flutter by Butterfly

Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog!

Today I have something a little more interesting for you, as earlier today I visited a place called Butterfly World in Preston Park, Yarm. Butterfly World is a centre which shows many different beautiful butterfly species and a miniature replica of their natural habitat, with tropical plants and warm, dry conditions. With the mesmerising patterns each animal has, you feel a sense of calmness as they flutter around your head and gracefully swoop around the leaves of the trees. In this post, I'll share with you some of the close-up snaps I got of these carefree creatures...

Starting with my favourite one of a paper kite butterfly, one of the most delicate and angelic species. This species stays true to its name - it daintily floats through the air, much like a sheet of paper would, gently bobbing up and down as it goes.

Personally, I love this photo because although the butterfly stands out as it is with the black and white, the pink pop of the flowers make it stand out even more.

As you may be able to tell from the bright orange fish at the bottom of this photo, I was walking around a pond when this caught my eye. I noticed this butterfly almost straight away, as it seemed to be inviting me to come over. Laying perfectly still, I took the opportunity to take a photo of it - and I'm so glad I did!

As I watched this butterfly drifting over me, I waited until it landed so I could get a closer look. I was fascinated by it because of its clear wings and striking white stripe, meaning I knew I needed to give it a closer inspection (and to prove to myself that I wasn't going insane - that this butterfly didn't have a chunk missing from it!).

I spotted this beauty perched on a leaf and noticed, like the butterfly above, it had an interesting structure - with some hole-like shapes in its wings. I love how the colours of it almost make it look 3D too, despite the fact that it's actually as flat as a pancake (or should I say leaf?)!

Flower Fanatics

Hey guys, welcome back to my blog!

In today's post I'm going to share with you lovely lot some of the pictures I've previously taken of flowers! My love of flowers has grown over the years, due to the fact that as you get older, you often tend to appreciate the things you may have not batted an eyelid at when you were younger. Nowadays, I think that flowers of any type can make any place feel more welcoming and certainly a lot prettier. I'd say that my favourite flowers would be blossom, especially when there's pink and white petals drifting to the ground, creating a blanket of serenity. I quite like lillies too - apart from their smell!

I took this photo at a place called Ryedale Folk Musuem in Hutton-Le-Hole, North Yorkshire. Ryedale Folk Museum is an outdoor museum which has old shops and machinery on show, as well as old housing and allotments (where I took this).

I love the contrast between the bright pink and white against the darkness of the soil and leaves beneath the flowers as it really makes them stand out.

Similarly, this photo was taken at Ryedale Folk Museum. As you may be able to tell from the fence in the background, it was the garden of a cute little cottage which people lived in hundreds of years ago. I love how this photo almost shows a part of history, as well as the fact that it has really vibrant and warm colours.

As you may have read in my Roses are Red, Violets are Blue blog post, I went to a beautiful place called Scampston Hall in August last year. Like the photo I showed there, I also took this one in Scampston Hall. I was attracted to this stunning flower because of how bright it was and it was like love at first sight! (Sadly, things didn't work out for us in the end... Hahah)

Passionate about Pebbles?

Hello and welcome back!

In today's post, I'll be showing you some of the photos I have taken at the beach. If you didn't already know, I live in a coastal village on the east of England, meaning there's plenty of picturesque beaches to explore... I'm not the type of girl who loves to go out shopping on the Saturday morning and then partying on the evening, I'd much rather head down to the beach then spend the evening having a bit of me time and 'chillaxing'. So since I'm always at the sea, why not share my photos with you?

Taken from Marske beach near Middlesbrough, you can see some wind turbines on this photo if you look closely. Marske-by-the-Sea has some beautiful views, especially on an evening when the sun is setting and is glistening on the surface of the sea - it is a truly magnificent sight.

This pebbly picture is one of my favourites because the focusing gods must have sent an angel down from the sky and blessed me! I have a story behind this photo too; just after I had pressed the capture button, a massive wave bombarded over to me and attacked my feet, making them dripping wet and I had to walk home with squelching shoes - the things you do to take one picture!




Here's a bit of a different picture for you! If you didn't know, this is a place called Whitby which I'm sure you will have heard of before... Whitby is one of my personal favourite seaside towns to visit; there's pretty little houses, narrow quirky streets, amusements, a lovely beach and plenty of beautiful scenery. Also, there's Whitby Abbey which is basically just a castle which is situated at the top of 199 steps, and I took this photo as I was walking up them. I think that this photo sums the place up perfectly.

Dainty Daisies

Hey! Welcome to my blog Faithful Photography!

This post is dedicated to those small white wonders of wildlife which are daisies and other white flowers). Personally, I love daisies - I think that a lawn without daisies is a lawn without happiness! Although, everyday we will walk past hundreds of these tiny little flowers without even noticing, so I thought that this post would teach you to appreciate the little things in life, because they're often the most important.

 Like I said in my previous post (Roses are Red, Violets are Blue) my camera roll massively suffered when I went out for the day to a place called Scampston Hall... This photo of these lovely lilac Aster daisies was taken there too. 

         

 I know this isn't a daisy (oops) but it's close, right?! I took this at a place called Hardwick Park in Durham when I went out for another family walk with my brother, parents and grandparents. There's a lovely lake there which had so many birds and some beautiful dragonflies which dipped and dived through the reeds. Although it was quite cold, it was good fun and I'd recommend going there!

Ropner Park is a beautifully landscaped park in Stockon-on-Tees which has some unreal flower displays during the summer. When I was last there, they had borders filled with flowers of all kinds which lead down to the water fountain where you'll find children filled with joy, making wishes and tossing one pence coins into the crystal clear water. This day, I took plenty of photos and this was one of them! I like this because you can kind of see the raindrops sprinkled on the petals, making it look like it's been touched by a fairy.

Living on the east coast of England means that there's plenty of picturesque little coves and beaches which have quaint but rickety houses overlooking them. One beach here is called Runswick Bay, which is one of the most popular out of them all. Runswick has the sea and sand at the bottom but a long, steep bank to get up to the top of the hill. It was on this bank that I took this photo of this delicate white blossom and I think it looks so cute!

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue

Hello and welcome back, I hope you're doing well!

We all know that every girl goes crazy over a bunch of roses, although, some of us wonder why this is... I mean, they're just plants right?! In today's post, I'm going to share with you some of the work I've done in the past with roses, and other flowers of the 'pretty in pink' variety!

This beautiful bouquet was bought for my mam as a birthday present. They sat proudly on the windowsill of the living room, so that they could be admired as people walked past. Unfortunately, they died not too long ago, RIP roses :(

I think that having flowers of any kind, real, fake, daffodils or lillies, in your house makes it a home.

 How pretty is this picture? I took this on Sunday at a place called Richmond in North Yorkshire. We'd gone out for a family walk around the quirky little shops and to watch the waterfall (which by the way was so cool, it looked like it should've been in a country like South Africa, not England!), when I spotted a beauty of a blossom tree and couldn't resist taking a picture.

This one was taken at a beautiful, scenic place called Scampston Hall in August 2015. Scampston is an old mansion which has acres of land for people to visit. It has two lovely short walks to go on around a lake filled with lily pads and fish, as well as a walled garden and allotment which hold so many different plants, flowers and vegetables. I thoroughly enjoyed going there, but I doubt my camera roll did... Woops!

Introduction

Hello, welcome to my blog! I'm Holly Doe, fourteen years old and I live in a small village in the north of England...

As you may have already guessed, I'm going to blog about photography and some of the photos I've taken. I've always been enthusiastic about this since 01 (when I was born), somehow forever finding

the opportunity to snap a shot of something on my mam's camera. For me, the main reason that I love to do what I do is that you can capture specific moments in time which you can look back on in the weeks or even years to come, to remember the emotions you felt that day. Since I have been passionate about this from a young age, I thought that it'd be great to share some of my pieces with you on this blog to get your opinions on them and make you feel a sense of warmth and happiness. Hopefully, my posts might inspire you to get outside with a camera and have a bit of fun - just like me!
